Fillers

Juvéderm™

As we age, our skin changes. Over time, the natural volume of youthful skin begins to diminish as wrinkles and folds form.  But, with our fillers, you don’t have to just sit back and let it happen!  After a consultation with Dr. Vanderpool, he will be able to recommend the filler that is best for you.

What is Juvéderm ™?

Juvéderm ™ is a smooth consistency gel made of hyaluronic acid – a naturally occurring substance in your skin that adds volume and hydration. Juvéderm ™ is eased under the skin to provide a smooth, natural look and feel so everyone will notice (but no one will know)! Juvéderm ™ instantly restores your skin’s volume and smoothes away facial wrinkles and folds.

Juvéderm ™ was FDA-approved in June 2006 for the treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds like your “smile lines” or “parentheses” (nasalabia folds- the creases that run from the bottom of your nose to the corner of your mouth).

What areas can be treated with Juvéderm ™?

What are the side effects of Juvéderm ™?

Though side effects are rare, they usually subside in three to seven days.  They may include:

What are the pre care instructions?

You should avoid taking St. John’s Wort, Vitamin E supplements, aspirin, and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, such as ibuprofen.  These agents may increase bruising and bleeding at the injection site.  You should not receive Juvéderm ™ if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, if you have an infection at the site to be injected or if you are allergic to bacterial proteins.

What are the post care instructions?

Following treatment with Juvéderm ™ you should avoid strenuous exercise, extensive sun or heat exposure, and alcoholic beverages for 24 hours after the treatment.  Exposure to any of the above may cause temporary redness, swelling, and/or itching at the injection sites.  You should also avoid touching the treated area for six hours.
