How does Thermage® work?

The Thermage® employs patented radiofrequency (RF) technology called ThermaCool™. The ThermaCool™ device uses a sophisticated treatment tip called ThermaTip™, which delivers a controlled amount of RF energy. With each touch to the skin the ThermaTip™ uniformly heats a large volume of collagen in the deep layers of the skin and its underlying tissue while simultaneously protecting the outer layer of the skin with cooling. The uniform heating action causes deep structures in your skin to immediately tighten. Over time, new and remodeled collagen is produced to further tighten skin, resulting in healthier, smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.

Thermage® can now be used to smooth, tighten and contour skin on areas of the body such as the abdomen, arms, thighs and buttochs.

What results will I see?

Measurable tightening improvements will be seen immediately. However, over the next six months collagen will continue to produce, tightening and filling in the lines and grooves, giving you a younger, more vibrant appearance.

How many treatments will I need?

Unlike many laser procedures requiring four or more sessions, a single Thermage® treatment has produced results in the majority of patients.

How long does it take?

You should generally schedule 2 – 3 hours, depending upon the treatment area, for the procedure which includes skin preparation prior to the treatment.
